This Must Be the Place

Here's the latest... Our house in Virginia is currently under contract and the inspection was Thursday morning. We found a house in Charlotte and we are currently under contract for that house. The inspection for the Charlotte house is this coming Thursday morning. I'll be in Charlotte this week for the inspection. I've been holding off revealing the new location for Lago's Lounge because I didn't want to jinx the deal. Lago and I are both very excited about the new house. It's an older home and needs a little work and some TLC, but we can see its potential. It's in Charlotte in a quiet, well-maintained older neighborhood - 8.5 miles from my work and about 3 miles from Lago's new gig. The kitchen needs some updating and the yard needs some taming. The photo of the outside of the house must have been taken when the house first went on the market. We'll also need to get a large storage shed for the back. The remnants of an overgrown 1970s-style metal s...

The Search Continues...

Last time it was chickens, this new location search found a cow, a bull to be exact, in a field behind one of the houses we looked at on Sunday. We finally narrowed our search down to a few – sorry the house with the cow didn’t make the cut, nor did the house with the pool and chickens even though we’re unsure if the chickens actually came with the house. I won’t let the cat out of the bag just yet, as they say, until we see how things go. For now I’ll leave you with a photo of Lago’s reaction to a pink room, which had bubble-gum pink trim. Adios!

For Sale

Our house went on the market Thursday morning and we had people come to see it this weekend. I'm still tired and sore this morning from the long week of getting the house ready. Starting this past Tuesday morning (Monday I rested up from the Big 40 weekend), I weeded, trimmed the bushes, spread two truck loads of mulch, replaced our wheelbarrow wheel, replaced the outdoor light bulbs, cut the grass, power washed the house front & back including the deck, scraped and painted the front porch posts and the front & back door trim, organized and cleaned the basement, and helped Lago clean and organize all rooms from top to bottom. I am wiped out. Yesterday, we were cleaning and getting ready right up until the first appointment at 11:30 a.m. We left just as they arrived and were off to some much needed down time. We went out to lunch then took JP Stinker to the park for a long walk. We returned home after the last appointment and found one of our grey cats running around and pla...

The Big 40

Image
I returned home from Berkeley Springs, WV, yesterday after attending a gathering of old friends dubbed "The Big 40." We all turned 40 this year and got together to reminisce, eat, drink and be merry. Oddly enough and without any prior knowledge, this weekend fell on the same weekend as the "Hey, Girlfriend!" weekend in town. We wandered down on Saturday for a drink at the local pub, but found we were not overrun by the "Wild Women" as one local called them. The weekend began with a two-hour drive north for me to our cabin - a large A-frame - near Cacapon State Park. I can't remember the last time all of us had been together in one place. It was good seeing everyone, catching up and raising a beer (or many) with my old pals from high school. Rooms were divvied up with hands of poker, each winner getting his choice of room. Soon after, the evening's surprise meal was revealed - lobster! Thanks, Mark. After dinner it was tunes, brews and poker followe...
