Gov't Mule, Grilled Veggies and the Flying Saucer

Image
Howdy and a Happy Friday to one and all! Had a visit from Ol' Lazy Acres last weekend. Kicked things off last Friday with the Gov't Mule concert at The Fillmore here in Charlotte. The Fillmore is part of a brand new entertainment complex, NC Music Factory , created from old warehouses that also includes an outdoor amphitheater. Waited in line to go through security and while the exterior is the shell of an old warehouse, inside everything looks great and is brand new. All seemed well until the show got underway. Trying to get a beer once the place was packed proved to be quite an effort. They had full bars with only two bartenders per station, and no separate lines for beer vs. cocktails. This created quite a log jam for getting drinks. Aside from that, the concert was great and Gov't Mule put on an excellent show! The sound system was just right, because when I left my ears weren't ringing as they usually are following small venue shows. We started out at the back of ...

Sunday Chillin'

Image
Chillin' inside this evening as it's hot as blazes here! Hoping for a stray storm to pass this way. I would normally step out back for some chillin' - so to speak. Regardless, taking it easy as I ran yesterday and cut the grass today. Enjoying a Terrapin Beer Co. - Rye Pale Ale , and listening to the the Dave Matthews Band Live Trax Vol. 15 recorded at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin. Believe it or not, I have yet to listen to this one from start to finish. Even did it "old school" and popped in the CDs rather than play from iTunes - get up on that dawg! When Monkey was here last weekend we had a couple of Terrapin's on draft at the Thomas St. Tavern, and oh my did they taste good. I like to sit outside there and normally they serve the beers in plastic cups. Instead, we had the Terrapins in frosted glasses - nice! - Sauld!

Got My Mojo Workin'

Image
Wow been awhile since I posted. Better get to it! Enjoying a Mojo IPA from Boulder Beer Co. in Boulder, CO. Very hoppy and very nice! We had quite a heat wave here in the Queen City and didn't have any rain for some time up until yesterday. Warm today, but not bad. Although this weekend looks to be hot again with those pesky isolated afternoon storms. I shouldn't say pesky -- love a good thunderstorm, provided it doesn't interrupt my running or grass cutting time. Been traveling a bit since my last post. Made a trip up north to PA and took in an Iron Pigs game. Had a short rain delay, but got the game in along with a win and fireworks after the game! I would have to say the "pork race" had me laughing hysterically! Ham bone almost had it, but that was some fleet-footed bacon! Had a good time hanging out with the fam, and even got a trip in to the Legion for some drafts and a cigar with my Pops. Made a trip up to the new Sands casino at the former site of Bethlehe...
