Cold South Friday

Image
Happy Friday! Cold here tonight. I had two good runs this week and debating on whether to run on my scheduled day Saturday or go on Sunday when it's supposed to go up to 60! Harpoon IPA is my featured beer of choice this evening to help ward off the cold. Nice to be back in the IPA scheme of things. Had some Stella and then some Rolling Rocks last couple weeks, but missed the extra hops. The next Dave Matthews Band Live Trax release was announced this week. It's a recording of LeRoi Moore's final performance with the band from Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Va. I saw them perform live there a number of times and always enjoyed going to those shows. My favorite show there was June 26, 2005, when they started off with "Dreamgirl," played "Say Goodbye" for the first time in two years, performed the best version of "Warehouse" I've ever heard, and Robert Randolph joined the band for "Stand Up," "Louisiana Bayou" and "All...

25 Things

I was “tagged” in a chain e-letter the other day on Facebook and while I’m not a fan of the chain e-letters I thought it would be a good writing exercise to respond. Additionally I wanted to respond, because the e-letter was sent by the Mrs. down at the ol’ Lazy Acres. (Really looking forward to having the Lazy Acres crew back in the Eastern Time zone and just up the road a piece.) Once I posted my response, I decided not to continue the chain and did not “tag” 25 others -- I don’t even have 25 Facebook friends! The “rules” of the letter were this… “Once you have been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you.” You’re also supposed to “tag” or continue this chain to 25 others, but we covered that above. I made some changes and pulled the original posting from Facebook, because I wanted to share it on my blog where everyone can see it. So here goes… I always wanted to be a film director; in fact that’s what led me to go to NYU. If ...

Ah Yeah, It’s The Weekend!

It’s another weekend at The Woodside and last night the jukebox was kickin’ out one of those “once in a blue moon” shuffles that was rockin’! I had a feeling it was one of those nights when the jukebox spun three Black Crowes songs in a row to start off the evening and turned out to be a great mix all night. At one point the jukebox cycled through “Must of Got Lost” by the J. Geils Band, “If You Really Love Me” by Stevie Wonder, “When She Begins” by Social Distortion, and a little Dave Matthews and Friends. Oh and look out, some Led Zep, baby! What a week it’s been. Had MLK Day off and got my run in before the impending snow storm, which welcomed in President Obama’s inauguration. Tuesday was our usually Moe’s burritos day so I went to lunch with the guys and set my DirecTV DVR to record the inauguration via the DirecTV Web site – can you say, sa-weet! Watched the whole deal later that night when I got home and also took in all the inauguration ball specials. Say what you will, I’m rea...

Bigger Fish To Fry

So the Eagles run comes to an end tonight. Watched the We Are One concert earlier today and now watching live U2 DVDs, and the win or loss of a football game seems almost insignificant, such as we are on the eve of a new era for our country's history. I feel like it's been a long, long time since I had a President I could be proud of. Let me also qualify that by saying I'm a true independent in that I've voted at one time or another for Clinton and Bush. Now's not the time for party politics, now is the time for us to come together as one country, one community, one voice and overcome as we always have the obstacles that stand before us. I hope that in the next few days and years we can get past the campaign bullshit and get down to fixing our economic and national security issues. Here's an early Happy Inauguration, Mr. President! - Salud!

Its game time baby!!!

Frigid Friday

Cold all over. I fired up the jukebox , stop by for a listen and warm up! LIVE from The Woodside Enjoying a Stella this evening. Sad to hear the news that painter Andrew Wyeth died today. I feel lucky to have seen his most famous painting " Christina's World " up close and in person. Took a couple weeks off from running, but back to it this week with two runs in the Dilworth area near the office this week. Looking to get two more in this weekend with the long weekend and then try to stick to a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule. I realize this post is kind of jumping around, because I'm going through my Twitter posts, but I had some carrot sticks with my sandwich today and the taste reminded me of the peculiar taste in the Magic Hat seasonal brew Roxy Rolles. Could the mad brewers at Magic Hat have used carrots in the brew recipe? I don't know, but it was not a subtle thing. I had a bite of carrot and it seemed to hit me like a ton of bricks. - Salud!

Not So Fast Monkey Man... oh it's on!

Full Moon Saturday Night

The moon is coming! Check out the full moon tonight if you can, it will be the largest of the year. Nothing, but clouds here. Speaking of the full moon... Don't know if it's "full moon fever" or a touch of "cabin fever," but that is one crazy Monkey!

Mellow Friday... thankfully!

Howdy y'all! That's a photo of the moon this evening as I left work. I'm tired tonight. It's been a long week with lots of long work days helping to launch a new sales initiative. Actually, just posted an updated video to the web site I developed to support the promotion, which kicks off first thing Monday morning. It's a big push to get new business, the web site is CableTVAdsWork.com . Oops, spoke too soon. Need to compress a video to Windows Media format and then I'm done! I'm looking forward to the Eagles game on Sunday, but keeping my expectations grounded. Should be a good game as they split the first two meetings earlier this year. I must say, I'm jealous of your weather forecast up north this weekend. No snow here, just some rain tomorrow night. Need to put all the holiday lights and decorations away this weekend. Wanted to get to it last weekend, but didn't have time. Sorry for the boring post, but time to get off the computer for awhile. Ma...

New Year, New Post

Hope the new year is getting off to a good start for one and all! I've got my Eagles scruff going for at least as long as the birds stay in the playoffs. GO EAGLES! Thanks to the Lazy Acres and Monkeys for listening in to the LIVE webcast the other night. The requests were really flying in later on in the evening, including recorded messages and mp3 files for songs I didn't have on hand. Would have been great for all of us to be in one place, but this was the next best thing. I figure I'll turn on the webcast anytime I'm home kicking some tunes. It's on this evening just cranking out a Woodside jukebox shuffle. LIVE from The Woodside The server software has been behaving much better now that I'm running the pro version. In other news ... Watch out - don't sit too close to the computer screen! I think I may have picked up something on my travels up north. My head's been full of "junk" the last couple days, and really sucks because I have a cra...
