This year's winter eve rock mix opens with a visit to a mountain cabin in the midst of a snowstorm, and kicks off with a new track by Judah & The Lion & Ruston Kelly as we listen by the fireside. In the past, the winter eve mix had only a slightly rougher edge than the brighter summer mixes. This year I decided to make the winter eve a true rock mix making it completely different than the summer mixes. Rock on and enjoy, and hopefully these rocking tracks make the winter a little warmer. This year's winter eve mix opens with a brief crackling fire sound effect into a cool-smooth track by Tom Misch from 2018, but a new discovery for me. Not sure what took so long. There are some new and old surprises in the mix.  I included "Junior's Farm" by Wings with its inclusion in the Natasha Lyonne series "Poker Face" on Peacock. There's also a nod to the movie "Groundhog Day" near the end with a Rachmaninoff intro to Joe Alterman's "Kelly's Blues" followed up by the film's closing song "Almost Like Being In Love" by Nat King Cole. Some highlights include tracks featured in recent movies and TV shows, such as Cam Cole's "Mama" from "Ted Lasso," and "Sooner or Later" as heard in "The Tender Bar" & "How I Met Your Father," and 10cc's "The Things We Do For Love" from the final season of "After Life." The Beatles inclusion was inspired by the recent release of the "Get Back" sessions, and had to include Mitch Ryder's cover of "When You Were Mine" as featured in the 1980s ski-comedy classic "Hot Dog... This year's Winter's Eve Mix includes new and old favorites, and pairs well with a "cool" winter's night. The opening track ( Blue In Green ) by the Bill Evans Trio, a cover of the Miles Davis classic, is rumored to have been written by Bill Evans, who played on the quintessential jazz masterpiece "Kind of Blue". Regardless of who penned it, I love this track and especially like this somewhat brighter version than the one Davis recorded. The next track ( Wasting Time ) by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats is one of my favorites right now, and I even have it near the beginning of my run playlist. More notable tracks: ( Delta Lady and Space Captain ) honor the recent passing of  Leon Russell , and a couple others ( State of Love and Trust and Where The Streets Have No Name ) commemorate their album's 25th and 30th anniversaries respectively.
