Memorial Day Weekend

Image
Sorry a little late in posting, but... Thank you to all those who came before us and granted the freedom we enjoy today, and thank you to those who serve proudly this very minute in all corners of the globe! I wanted to write a summation of the big weekend, but doubt I could do a better job than Ol' Lazy Acres already did on his blog. So rather than repeat, here's a link to his latest post . Had a great time and always enjoy spending time with Ol' Lazy Acres. The photo above is from lunch Sunday at Mac's Speed Shop . We some good Carolina BBQ (had the sampler with ribs, chicken, beef brisket, pulled pork and 2 sides), cold drinks (I had a the Rogue Dead Guy Ale and Ol' Lazy Acres had a Bloody Mary) and watched the start of the Indy race, which due to the weather was the only race going that day. That evening we had a fine Spanish wine Las Rocas Garnacha paired with a couple huge ribeye steaks and a screening of The Big Lebowski . Reminds me, there's a Lebowski...

Rainy Friday Night

Evening all! Kicked the jukebox off with some Bob Marley "Lively Up Yourself" and had a Lagunitas Brewing Co. - IPA Maximus . Nice stuff and a double IPA! Storms blew in as soon as I got home today and continued up until a little while ago. Had sun showers too as you may notice in the photo. Speaking of the photo you might also notice the Dave Matthews Band coasters that arrived this week as part of the DMB Warehouse fan package along with the Warehouse 8 CD. Interesting choices and appropriately features LeRoi on many tracks. In other news... Flipper had his blood rechecked this week and confirmed that he's still diabetic, but doing fine back on his insulin. Also took Ella in for a grooming. She's long hair, but seems to like a "lion cut" - not to mention gets rid of any knots or tangles that I can't get out because they're too close to her skin. Got the front and back brakes done on the Altima yesterday. Jimmy Joe Pete gave me a lift to pick up my ...

Flipper Friday!

Evening all, Senor Flipper turned 15 today! He celebrated by napping all day and I gave him some cat nip when I got home. He's now purring loudly next to the jukebox display as you can see in the photo. Having a little PA down south tonight with a Victory Brewing Co. - Hop Devil Ale ... devilishly good! Fired up the Woodside Live again this evening. Shuffling through what I call a "Classic Rock Infusion" Woodside playlist. It's a little bit of everything like the usual Woodside playlist, but more emphasis on the classic rock with a good bit of Rat Pack and new stuff thrown in for good measure. Need to get the grass cut tomorrow as it's getting a bit tall after all the rain we had this week - hopefully before any storms move in. Thanks to Lazy Acres for sending the JJ Grey via iTunes last night - good stuff! - Salud!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

Evening all, been awhile since I updated the blog. I've been working on the recap of my DMB concert trips, but taking longer than I thought. Will have them hopefully by this weekend. In other news... big storms tonight on the way home from work. Took me over an hour to get home through the traffic from the downpours and flooded streets. Did I mention I'm only 11 miles from work! Traffic was really backed up at one point where only one lane of traffic could make it through a flooded part of the road. Finally made it back to the Woodside where a Cinco De Mayo margarita awaited! Clouds broke up a bit so I could snap the photos of the rainbow and creek, but started pouring soon enough. Finally calm now, but still under a tornado watch tonight. - Salud!
