Halloween Mix 4 has some tricks & treats, and spans 64 years with 24 tracks from 1958 to 2022 and touches every decade in between. I wasn't sure if I had enough songs to put together another Halloween mix after last year's epic 30+ track mix that was almost 20 years in the making, but I actually still had a large pool of songs to consider. Dare I say, I think I have enough for another mix next year. We'll see, but looks promising. For the first time in almost 20 years, I added a new volume to my Halloween mixes. The new Halloween Mix 3 includes 34 tracks and spans 71 years from 1950 to 2021. What became  Halloween Mix 1 and Mix 2 was initially created in 1999. The mix went through various incarnations before coming together in two parts in 2006 , and posted to Mixcloud about 10 years ago. As many of my mixes do, this new mix starts slow and builds to a finale, followed by a few wind-down songs. These mixes take a little time to put together, to say the least, as there aren't that many "Halloween songs" released in a given year. But, I've found there are a lot more when you place certain songs in the right context. That being said, this mix has some spooky movie/TV clips and sound effects thrown in, and some tricks and treats. I'm actually surprised the mix came out with this many tracks. Each year I update my Halloween Mix. It grew to two CDs a few years ago and it may grow to 3 CDs soon. Last year I created a companion CD of classics from all the classical pieces and movie soundtracks which I had incorporated in small snippets into various tracks. I think it was also last year that I decided to make the first CD more laid back and the second CD more rockin’. The tracks are listed below, but this does not do it justice since most tracks are peppered with Halloween sound effects and movie clips. However, most of these tracks are available on iTunes for downloading. One of these years, I may bring “The Martian Boogie” by Brownsville Station back to the Halloween Mix. It appeared in the first couple mixes, but I decided to cut it a few years ago. I mixed in a clip from the original radio broadcast of “The War of the Worlds” which fit in perfectly in the beginning.
