I probably should give this over the weekend to think about it, because there are three songs not included in this year's Summer Mix that I've been flip-flopping over. The mix just seems very tight and I can't fit the songs in without repeating the "essence," "groove" or beat of another song. I think the mixes for me work best when they flow and take you from one place to another musically without beating you over the head with the same style. Another thing I like to do with the Summer Mix is incorporate the old alongside the new. I hate to put two old songs back to back, or should I say two songs from the same era back to back. Now as you look at my mix you'll see some old songs next to other old songs. I guess it's not a hard and fast rule for me, but I try to at least jump a decade between two old songs. Like last year I kept the sound effects to a minimum, using a mix I created of beach sounds for the opening and a crickets sound effect for ...

I painted the shed green on Monday, "Racing Green" actually. It took a whole gallon for one coat and needs a second, which I won't be able to get to until the weekend. Also need to pick up some black paint for the shutters and the trim on the flower box. I was thinking I should have painted it Eagles green, but I think this shade of green has a similar brightness to a "Barn Red" that I like. I also like that it's a different shade of green than the neighbor's shed, a portion of which is visible to the left supported by cement blocks. It's been so warm here lately the song playing on the Jukebox is very fitting, " Summertime and the livin's easy ..."

We had our shed put together yesterday. We got it from Lowe's and their vendor Heartland delivered and assembled it. One guy put it all together, he arrived at 7:45 a.m. and finished before dark. Still needs to be painted, probably going with a nice green to blend in with the surrounding foliage. The panels are already primed, but the trim is bare and needs primer. Thursday I did some more work on the backyard pulling out ivy and cleaning off the cement pad for the shed. The interior has storage shelves and a work bench. Can't wait to start filling it up!

Happy Friday to all y'all! Just got back from Lago's performance with Carolina Voices - Cantos de las Américas (Songs of the Americas) . That's her in the photo above, just to the left of the bald dome. Ol' Lazy Acres texted me during the performance. I think he may have had one too many Fat Tires, but I ask you, can you really have too many Fat Tires? Lago is enjoying a Coronita with her trusty sidekick JP Stinkerbutt. While yours truly going mellow with a mellow Modelo, yo... Meanwhile, our li'l Ella Bella shows off her new do, she heard short hair is in this season. It's Masters Weekend, baby ! Lago is doing fine after some exploratory surgery on her hand following a cat bite at work. She's even back to cooking. Pasta with homemade sauce is on the menu this evening. I will mention that I assisted in opening the tomato cans and spooning the tomato paste into the pot. She's enjoying a glass of Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay. Ol' Lazy Acres is enjoying a Fat Tire and joining us this evening from the Country Club in Chesterfield, MO. I'm having a glass of Big House Red at the Lounge Bar while watching the Masters 2nd Round I recorded on the DVR. Ella Bella joins me this evening catching up on all the golf action. The Masters has always been my favorite golf tournament even before I played golf. Not sure why, but always liked watching the Masters on TV for as long as I can remember.
