A Pennsy Brew for a Pennsy Glass

Image
Just received a pair of these Iron Pigs pint glasses from Poppa Gar in the mail today - Thanks!!! So I figure what better to drink from these glasses than a fine brew from Victory Brewing in Downingtown, Pa. That's Victory Hop Devil Ale in the photo, good stuff! While it's called Hop Devil it has the typical nice hoppiness of a good IPA (India Pale Ale). I have yet to try their Hop Wallop ale, but between the label and the the brew itself, I'm quite satisfied with the Hop Devil. I recall being a little leery of it when I lived in the Phila. area, but I don't think my taste buds had fully acquired what was needed to appreciate the robust taste of a true IPA. In Other News... I have a Woodside 7 to post this evening. It's been awhile since I posted a Woodside 5 (as it used to be known) so thought I would publish some songs that may not have fit on the Summer Mix 2008 or came out after the contest ended, or songs that well - I thought like including. So here's ...

Pork and Beans

I never ran through a pair of sneakers before. Today was my first run in my new Nike Pesasus running shoes. I had about 360-370 miles on my old Nikes and I was starting to get some soreness in both legs, not just my left. Everything I read online, as far as running experts goes, said that you should replace your shoes between 350 - 500 miles, and that if you were heavier or ran a good deal the sooner the better. What I didn't realize is that I needed to recalibrate the Nike+iPod, but after today's run made a lot more sense. I had a great pace going from start to finish, probably my best since I started running in the park. I was really psyched to see how I did, but because I didn't recalibrate the Nike+iPod my pace recorded by the Nike+iPod was horrible and obviously way off. I recently had been pacing regularly under 10 minutes a mile and today's pace felt really good maybe even 8 minutes a mile or so I hoped. Oh well, I know how well I did and that's what really m...

The First Cut

Image
They say "the first cut is the deepest." Well I don't know about that, but today was my first cut with the new lawnmower. The old one quit on me yesterday. It had been going downhill for awhile. The front-wheel drive stopped working last year, and even though it was repaired it's never been quite the same since I accidentally bent the rotor back in Virginia. Yesterday it quit working all together. Just when I thought I would have to get it repaired again, I noticed the engine seemed to be tipping backwards when I pulled on the starter cord. On further inspection, I saw that the engine had actually busted loose from its deck mounts in the front. I didn't see how this could be repaired short of placing the engine on a new deck, provided you could get the engine to start. That was the last straw. I ordered a new mower online from Lowe's and picked it up at the store this morning. Not only was it nice having the front-wheel drive again, the large rear wheels made ...

Big Storm

Image
Huge storm tonight, power has been off since I got home at 6:30. Had burgers on the grill and salad for dinner. Listening to music on my iPod and drinking a Bud Select before they get warm. Hopefully the power will be back on soon. - Salud! UPDATE: It was around 10:30 p.m. when a couple power trucks rolled into the neighborhood. They took a look around and then left. That was when I decided to call it a night. The power finally came back on after midnight, but by then I already had the windows open and the fan going. Rolled over and went back to sleep.

The Summer of Sopranos

Image
Yes, I realize The Sopranos presented its coup de grace a year ago and we all know how David Chase ripped off my short film for his opening... But, ever since I watched the series finale I've been wanting to go back and watch all The Sopranos episodes from start to finish. Rather than lay out the $40-60 for each set of DVDs, I've been buying these from eBay at a decent discount. I just started Season 3 the other day so good thing I acquired Seasons 4-6.1 this weekend on eBay. Still working on getting Season 6 Part 2, but I have time. There are so many copies available out there, I can stay within my goal price. Ooh, fitting that the jukebox just played Billy Joel's "Easy Money" - nice touch! - Salud!

DMB Rockin' The Net

Image
I've been watching an amazing online broadcast of the Dave Matthews Band from the Rothbury Music Festival this evening. Jeff Coffin, who has stepped in while Leroi Moore is recuperating from an ATV accident, can really rock the sax. They played rockin' versions of "Eh Hee," "So Damn Lucky," "#27," and a cover of "Sledgehammer," but the the stunner of the show was a rousing version of "#41" that was so good it almost got this die-hard DMB fan misty up in the bee-atch! :~) Although this show was part of a festival, the boys played a full set including three encore tunes. They ended with "Thank You," which has become a staple of this summer's tour. Thanks for a great show Dave and friends!

The Fourth of July

Image
Happy 4th to one and all, and a special thanks to all our service people past and present for protecting our freedom! Ran today in the park. More people walking, biking and running than I expected to see. I figure what better way to celebrate our Independence Day than to enjoy the freedom of a run in the park. I went at the same faster pace as the other day, but it was about 10 degrees cooler then. Still managed to get through it though. Saw a small turtle out on the trail today. It's getting to be a regular "Mutual of Omaha" over there. - Salud!

Happy July 4th Eve!

Or perhaps I should call this post "The Catch Up"... My Mom and Stepfather were here last week and we had a great visit. Always enjoy their company and wish they could visit more often. They were also the first to sleep on the new guest room bed. They are back in the sunshine state now and after a long trip away from home (they stopped here on their way back from up north), probably glad to be home. As you may know the Summer Mix results are in for 2008 and I came out victorious once again! That makes three wins in a row and now it has me thinking - should I pack it in while I'm on top? Should I pass down my Summer Mix throne to the new batch of summer mix "gun slingers"? Should I move out to stud, so to speak :~), and act as a judge to next year's contest? Ah, questions yet to be answered my friends. For those of you who do not have a copy of my Summer Mix 2008, you can download it from iTunes, including the bonus track that didn't fit on the CD - yes y...

Summer Mix 2008

Now that the judges' votes are in , below is my track list for my summer mix. This year I thought what best captures the feeling of summer better than love. With my song selection, I tried to portray the many sides of love and even mixed in clips from the " Manhattan " soundtrack in the first and last songs. Timmay's Summer Mix 2008 The Boys Are Back In Town (Rhapsody In Blue Intro) – Thin Lizzy All I Do – The Derek Trucks Band Callin’ – Soulive I’m Yours – Jason Mraz Evergreen - The Black Crowes Love Spreads – The Stone Roses She Loves The Sunset – Old 97’s Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin’ On Me?), Pt. 1 – Joss Stone Jungle Love – Steve Miller Band Santeria – Sublime Hey Hey What Can I Do – Led Zeppelin Sweet Caroline (Live) – Dave Matthews Band If You Really Love Me – Stevie Wonder Badge (Live) – Eric Clapton When She Begins – Social Distortion Jackie Wilson Said (I’m In Heaven When You Smile) – Van Morrison Many The Miles – Sara Bareilles Save Me – Dave Matthews O...
