Deer and Hop Devils

Happy Friday, y'all!

Enjoying a Founders Centennial IPA this evening, it's unfiltered and very nice. So nice, I wish I had picked up more than one. I wasn't sure about it from the description, but it's a definite add to my essential IPA list. As a follow up in its stead, I'm enjoying a local brew Highland Brewing Company's Kashmir IPA, out of Asheville, NC. Another very nice IPA, not as rich as the Founders, but even with its hoppy flavor is quite smooth.

As you Facebookers know, I had some visitors this morning as I was readying the coffee pot for its daily brew. I looked out the kitchen window and was surprised to see two young deer in the yard. I usually don't see any deer out back until the late fall or early winter. I immediately went to grab the camera, but knew they would flee as soon as I stepped outside. Thinking now, perhaps I could have gone out the front and snuck around back, but then that wouldn't have helped the light issue as it was just before sunrise. So I had to take the photos through a window with no flash, and yes forgot to lean against the window to hold the camera steady which would have cut down on the blurry factor. The momma deer eventually made her appearance after a bit and then lead the young ones down along the creek.

Watched the History Channel's special "Woodstock: Now and Then" last night and loved the part where the School of Rock kids were learning & loving the old tunes like The Who and Janis... gives me hope that music will get better soon.

These are some of the kids featured in History's "Woodstock: Now and Then" - check out the kid playing drums, he can rock and love the hat!

"Well I came across a child of God, he was walking along the road
And I asked him tell where are you going, this he told me:
Well, I'm going down to Yasgur's farm, going to join in a rock and roll band.
Got to get back to the land, set my soul free.
We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden."

In other news...
I've got my fantasy football league's draft coming up in less than two weeks and feel like I finally have a name for my team that will stick - The Carolina Hop Devils! I feel like it's taken me a number of years to find the right name. I thought the "Hoochie Mamas" was a funny name, but never felt quite right.

For the team logo, that's the Dave Matthews Band firedancer on the helmet, but if you look closely that's Philadelphia Eagles green and grey stripes on the top of the helmet. BooYah!

- Salud!
