The Times... They Are Crazy Sometimes

Rogue OREgasmic Ale
Greetings and Hoppy Friday!

Tonight's brew is Rogue's OREgasmic Ale...

"Brewed using 100% OREGON Ingredients. Micro Barley Farm Dare™ & Risk™ Malts; First Growth Micro Hopyard Revolution & Independent Hops, Pacman Yeast and Free Range Coastal Water."

Believe me it lives up to its name, it's good stuff. That is of course if you're a hop fan, if not then probably not so much.

This week was our somewhat quarterly "All Hands" meeting, and as usual it was held at the EpiCentre Theaters, maybe the finest movie theater complex I've ever seen.

Immediately following our meeting was the theater's regularly scheduled showing of the latest Batman film. When the meeting started, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was thinking of the victims and their families in Colorado. Actually a few times this past week I found myself thinking "what if..." in various public places. Granted I doubt there are many people looking to shoot up a grocery store or restaurant, but you never know. I'm sure up until last Friday most thought the same about a movie theater. While we need to live our lives and not think about the possibility of a crazed, gun-toting coward blasting up a local hang out, it does cross your mind; however, I'm certainly not going to stop attending public events and social gatherings.

The debate will rage on and on about gun control and what could have been done to stop this tragedy and many others like it, but I'm not here to debate that. I for one am fully behind our Constitutional right to bear arms, but should we have the right to own a military assault rifle like an AK-47... No. I've heard all the arguments for and against, and that's just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Following the meeting, was the usual open bar for a limited time, and afterward you were free to buy your own drinks. They had the Terrapin Hopsecutioner IPA on tap so had to have one of those. A group of us hung out there for a bit before taking the train back to the office. It was a great chance to catch up with people from work who you may not normally have time to have a conversation with. There was no talk of the Colorado tragedy, just lots of friendly banter and a good time - some of life's key ingredients. Yes, the shooting was horrible, yes the country is in a financial downturn, yes we're in the midst of a heatwave... but, we must take the time to enjoy the moments we have... and for that I am grateful.

Enjoy the moments my friends, and try to create and attend as many as you can.

- Salud!
