Happy July 4th Eve!

Or perhaps I should call this post "The Catch Up"...

My Mom and Stepfather were here last week and we had a great visit. Always enjoy their company and wish they could visit more often. They were also the first to sleep on the new guest room bed. They are back in the sunshine state now and after a long trip away from home (they stopped here on their way back from up north), probably glad to be home.

As you may know the Summer Mix results are in for 2008 and I came out victorious once again! That makes three wins in a row and now it has me thinking - should I pack it in while I'm on top? Should I pass down my Summer Mix throne to the new batch of summer mix "gun slingers"? Should I move out to stud, so to speak :~), and act as a judge to next year's contest? Ah, questions yet to be answered my friends. For those of you who do not have a copy of my Summer Mix 2008, you can download it from iTunes, including the bonus track that didn't fit on the CD - yes you heard it here first folks!

In other news, yesterday I officially fit back into my size 36 pants - the running and the Bowflex is paying off! I actually had to search out these pants that I hadn't worn since I don't know when. My first choice of pants yesterday looked like clown pants with my weight loss, but I must say this is a good problem to have!

As a special for the July 4th holiday, please set your "Way-Back Machines" for 20 years ago. Below is a video from my lifeguard days that for the most part was recorded in 1988. This was the last year I would don the red lifeguard shorts and whistle. It's not my best work, but I offer it for posterity's sake and as a companion piece to my earlier post about the Beginnings of My Summer Mixing.

I did have to pull a George Lucas and edit it to get it down to under 10 minutes to fit on YouTube and even brightened the film sections that were very dark following the digital transfer. They're still a bit dark, but what can you do?

I paired my editing with a treat from Breckenridge Brewery with their Small Batch IPA that was oh so tasty! Give it a try if you have a chance, and don't have a need to operate any heavy machinery - excellent stuff!

Wow, look at those locks. Nice video. We can see why you're the summer mix champ.
