What A Long Strange Week...
Friday once again and fall has finally arrived here, had to turn on the heat the other night! Looks to get chilly on the overnights this weekend as well. What could be more appropriate for the weather than Sierra Nevada's Harvest Wet Hop Ale. I've been waiting for this to arrive since I found it last year. The Harvest Wet Hop Ale is one of three special-release fall seasonals. A little smoother than the Estate, another special release, but both are equally great in taste.
Weird though... so far both Total Wine locations here are only carrying the Estate. Today it dawned on me that I needed to stop at the Common Market over in the funky part of town, across the street from the Penguin, which has been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." The Common Market has an excellent beer selection and today not only did I find the Harvest Ale, but also a little gem that I won't reveal until football Sunday!
Thanks to everyone who passed along kind words this week in remembrance of the Flipper man. It was greatly appreciated. I even received a card today from the animal hospital that contained hand-written notes from his doctor and some of the staff who had gotten to know the Flip over the last few years. It was very nice for them to do that and very unexpected. Although considering the owners, who I met a few times, not really all that unexpected. And, both are Auburn alums - there you go Lazy Acres!
I was hoping to mention how great the Phillies were doing in the NLCS, but they lost tonight and head back to Philly with the series tied a game a piece. Hey at least the series is tied heading back home, and the Phils aren't down two games. Hopefully they can pull it out as I thoroughly enjoyed watching last season's run and World Series victory! GO PHILS!!!
Not to keep going on about the weather, but I installed The Weather Channel desktop app the other day and every time I look over at the status bar the temperature has gone down a degree - getting' chilly out there pilgrims!
The movie "Ghost Town" came out last year, but currently available OnDemand and DVD. It's seasonal, funny, and features Ricky Gervais and Tea Leoni... and an opening track by The Beatles - how can you pass it up!
Stay warm all, Salud!
