10K Plus and 100 Miles Milestone

Today I set out to run a 10K or 6.2 miles, and not only did I go beyond the 10K, I reached the 100 miles total mark since I started tracking my runs with the Nike+iPod!

I ran 6.6 miles then walked to cool down, which gave me a total of 7.22 miles. I was congratulated again by Lance Armstrong on my longest run to date. To prepare for today's run, this week I twice ran 3.5 miles at a 10-minute per mile pace.

November 27, 2007, was the first time I used the Nike+iPod. About three months and 35 runs later, I ran a combined total of 100 miles.

I'm almost in shock to think here I am at almost 42 years old and I just ran the longest distance ever in my life. The longest I ever ran back when I was in shape and in my early 20s was five miles. I'm sure I ran some long distances in Coast Guard boot camp, but they don't tell you how far you ran. You just keep running until they tell you to stop.

To reward myself for this accomplishment, on the menu this evening is a marinated porterhouse steak for the grill, veggies and a fine wine - the Tintara Shiraz 2004 from Southern Australia. I've had their 1999 Shiraz and was excellent. This vintage received a 90 rating from Wine Spectator so hopefully this is just as good as the '99.

Good work Tim!

We splurged this evening on dinner too - jumbo scallops and aged Angus ribeyes. All grilled of course since we hit 65 degrees.
